Zydeco Colorguard will once again present a World Class ensemble for the 2012 season.  Our bronze medalist Open Class team will be inactive for the 2012 season.  Director Byron Valentine released the following statement regarding the decisions made for the coming year:

"After many hours of contemplation, weighing pros and cons and looking at decisions from every possible angle we have made the decision that Zydeco World will be returning for the 2012 season.  We will only be fielding one World team however - not two. As a board of directors we felt that fielding two World class ensembles would be too much to take on; having previously taken a season off in 2010.

In previous years the decision to stay in Open class would not have been ours to make; it was a WGI policy that any medalist in the "A" and "Open" classes move up a class the following season. Although that rule was recently changed we felt that our talented Open class staff and performers are ready for the next step based on the success of this season.

Much as we did a seamless merge of Consortio into Zydeco Open - that is how we intend to approach this situation as well. It is my goal to blend both staffs, and prospective members, effortlessly.  Our Open and World teams had phenomenal seasons this past year...we are excited to see what the future holds for Zydeco in 2012 - and excited to keep our audiences entertained!"
