Noted designer and WGI/DCI Hall of Fame member Michael Gaines to join Zydeco Colorguard Design Staff for 2012.
Known for his keen ability to design shows that appeal to the crowd, Michael has been a driving force behind such wildly popular groups as the Pride of Cincinnati, Aimachi and the Carmel High School colorguard - to name just a few. He is also the drill mastermind behind perennial drum corp favorite: The Cavaliers.
Byron Valentine, co-director of Zydeco, recently stated: "we are so thrilled that Mike has agreed to come on board to stage our production and help steer our program into a new, exciting direction as we enter into our fifth season of competition with WGI! Mike is a personal inspiration to me; someone I have been taught by, taught with and have the privilege of calling both mentor and friend. This feels like "full circle" moment for me and has completely re-energized the Zydeco organization."
Mike had the following to say about teaming up with the Zydeco staff:
"I have always had great respect for what Zydeco has been able to achieve in such a short time span! There is also a level of comfort there with the staff as I have known most of them for years; as well as a familial bond between Pride and Zydeco that has existed through their respective active and inactive seasons. Working with both groups will be an exciting journey!"
Zydeco Colorguard was a 2011 World Class Finalist, World Class "Fans Favorite" and Open Class Bronze Medalist. For more information please visit our Facebook page or visit us on the web at: www.zydecocolorguard.com.
